In the wake of the flooding and landslides that occurred in KwaZulu-Natal in April and May 2022, 448 people had been left lifeless and more than forty 000 displaced, with damage to roads, faculties, water infrastructure and companies.
On 18 April, President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a national state of catastrophe.
