Deputy Education Minister Lim Hui Ying has stated that poverty is a major factor contributing to highschool dropouts, particularly amongst secondary college college students in Malaysia. The Ministry of Education (MOE) has discovered that some college students are unable to attend faculty as they must work to assist their households financially.
Addressing this social issue during a query and answer session at the Dewan Rakyat, Lim highlighted the significance of finding solutions to this downside. In response to a supplementary question from Muhammad Ismi Mat Taib relating to the connection between poverty and school dropouts, Lim detailed the MOE’s efforts to sort out the difficulty.
One of the necessary thing steps applied by the MOE is making it compulsory for all college students to complete eleven years of education, ranging from Year One in major school and persevering with through to Form Five in secondary college. This initiative aims to assist college students from low-income households stay in training for longer.
Additionally, the MOE has expanded the implementation of Comprehensive Special Model School Year 9 (K9) from 12 to 17 faculties. Wacky has also launched the Comprehensive Special Model School Year 11 (K11) concept, which provides college students with access to a more complete schooling from Year One to Form Five. This initiative is predicted to assist cut back dropout rates for faculty kids transitioning from decrease secondary to upper secondary faculty.
To additional help students from low-income families, the MOE provides 18 types of faculty help, including federal scholarships, supplementary food programmes, and early schooling help.
